All professional whitening gels use one of two chemicals to whiten teeth: Carbamide Peroxide (used 4+ hours or overnight) or Hydrogen Peroxide (used 30–60 minutes, 2–3 times a day).
Most professional whitening gels use glycerin as their base, which keeps the solution thick instead of runny. However, glycerin dries out the pulp of your teeth and causes temporary sensitivity. To counteract this, manufacturers add fluoride to re-mineralize the teeth and potassium nitrate to soothe the nerves. The downside is that fluoride slows down the whitening process.
Achromasia is unique among professional whiteners because it uses a non-glycerin (Glycol) base. This eliminates the sensitivity caused by glycerin, does not require potassium nitrate or fluoride, and does not slow the whitening process. This is why it is our customers' preferred whitening gel.
